It’s 2018 and Ubuntu still hasn’t figured out that you can’t push buttons that aren’t on the screen.
Another intuitive, trouble-free upgrade process, brought to you by Ubuntu. Surely 2018 will be the year of the Linux desktop!
Time to “upgrade” my server to 15.10.
Computer no longer boots.
Drives have different ids for no reason.
The usual.
Finally forced to “upgrade” to 14.04
- Upgrader tool crapped the bed because my internet connection went down for 1 minute.
- Upgrader tool halted repeatedly, asking me if I want to overwrite my customized config files with default maintainer ones. No dipshit, merge the changes together. If you can’t figure out how, show me a 3-way merge with a nice GUI so I can decide which changes I want to keep. And DON’T INTERRUPT THE INSTALLATION FOR THIS AND SIT THERE DOING NOTHING FOR HOURS. Ask at the end of the upgrade.
- Gnome panel no longer exists. Just windows with no desktop. Have to run gnome-panel by hand?
- VNC stopped working, none of the proposed solutions work.
Uhh… I never modified this file. Why don’t you tell me if it should be replaced or not? Nice cryptic diff display, by the way.
